DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Energy, Juma Homera has said that the government is committed to strengthening cooperation with petroleum importers and distributors to ensure adequate and timely fuel supplies across Tanzania.

Speaking during a meeting with leaders and members of The Tanzania Association of Oil Marketing Companies (TAOMAC)  at the Ministry of Energy’s Dar es Salaam offices, where they discussed challenges and measures to improve the performance and growth of the petroleum sector, he said the government will continue working closely with industry stakeholders to safeguard the availability of fuel.

Elaborating, he said that petroleum products remain a critical source of energy supporting a wide range of economic activities while stressing the need for stronger communication and coordination between the government, importers and distributors to identify and address challenges affecting the sector.

“Closer collaboration will help improve efficiency in the petroleum supply chain and ensure that fuel reaches all parts of the country on time, supporting both economic and social activities,” he said.

The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary responsible for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dr James Mataragio; Petroleum Commissioner Goodluck Shirima; senior officials from institutions under the ministry, including the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) and the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA), as well as TAOMAC leaders and members.
