Tanzania invites EU investment in key sectors

HELSINKI: THE Deputy Minister of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, Dr Pius Chaya, has invited investors from Finland and other European countries to invest in Tanzania, highlighting opportunities in agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, mining and mineral value addition, energy, infrastructure, tourism, information and communication technology (ICT), and the digital economy.

Dr Chaya made the remarks in Helsinki, Finland, while speaking at a preparatory meeting for the 2027 Tanzania–European Union Investment and Business Forum.

He said the objective was to turn investment discussions into concrete projects, production, employment opportunities, value addition and shared prosperity.

Dr Chaya said Tanzania, through the implementation of its Development Vision 2050, aims to build a competitive, inclusive and sustainable economy driven by investment, innovation and technology.

He also stressed that the government recognises the private sector as a key development partner and is welcoming investments that can support value addition, create jobs, facilitate technology transfer and connect Tanzania to international markets.
