A 26-year-old man has died after allegedly being attacked over claims that he danced for an extended period with the wife of a suspected attacker during a blessing ceremony in Same District, Kilimanjaro Region. Bernard Kiluwa, a resident of Mheza Village, is alleged to have been attacked following a dispute reportedly fuelled by jealousy after dancing with the woman at the ceremony. Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander Simon Maigwa confirmed the incident on October 16, 2026, saying it occurred at night on October 12 in Kalemane hamlet, Mheza Village, Maore Ward, Same District. According to Commander Maigwa, preliminary investigations suggest that jealousy over the woman may have triggered the attack. He said the suspect allegedly asked Kiluwa to step aside for a conversation before attacking him with a sharp object believed to be a knife. Kiluwa sustained injuries to his abdomen and chest before the suspect reportedly fled the scene. He was rushed to Ndungu Health Centre for further treatment but died while receiving medical care, Commander Maigwa said. Police are continuing efforts to locate and arrest the suspect so that he can face the allegations in court. Commander Maigwa urged anyone with information that could help investigators locate the suspect to report it to the nearest police station.
