Energy Minister Deogratius Ndenjembi now becomes the 13th Vice President of Tanzania
The Former Minister of Energy, Deogratius John Ndejembi is the Vice President elect, nominated to fill the position of the recently resigned, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi.
He is therefore going to be the 13th Vice President after the country gained independence from Britain 65 years ago.
Born on the 12th of July 1983, Ndejembi is a Tanzanian politician and member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), appointed by in Dodoma, on the 26th of August 2026 to become the next Vice President of Tanzania, following the resignation of Vice President Emmanuel Nchimbi.
Ndejembi however has not yet been sworn into office at the time of his appointment, awaiting the approval of the National Assembly.
An alumnus of the University of Lincoln, Deo Ndejembi previously served in several government positions, including as Minister of Energy and Minister of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development. He is also a Member of Parliament representing Chamwino.
The appointment is subject to the constitutional procedure for filling the office of Vice President, including confirmation by the National Assembly and the taking of the oath of office
