CRDB commits to policies and guidelines that align with Tanzania’s Vision 2050 goals

DAR ES SALAAM: THE CRDB Bank Foundation pledged to serve to promote healthcare services, sports, youth participation and community development banking on funds it raises through various sporting events.

Chairman of the CRDB Bank Foundation Board of Directors, Oswald Urassa, said the Board will continue overseeing policies and guidelines aimed at strengthening the Foundation’s capacity and effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate and achieving its objectives.

Over 5bn/-  was raised through the CRDB Marathon and the organizers directed it towards the healthcare sector, enabling more than 400 children with heart conditions to undergo surgery and providing 240 women with high-risk pregnancies with medical treatment and safe delivery services.

In retrospect, commitment to have quality healthcare services has been among Tanzania’s government goals in its Development Vision 2050.

Zanzibar’s Second Vice President, Hemed Suleiman Abdulla, who was the event’s Chief Guest, said  Vision 2050 aims  to ensure every Tanzanian has an opportunity to achieve their aspirations through investment in healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, youth development and other key areas of national development.

In his remarks while concluding the CRDB Marathon in Dar es Salaam on behalf of Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, he  said Vision 2050 seeks to build a nation where expectant mothers receive safe delivery services, young people have opportunities to pursue their aspirations, entrepreneurs can grow into large-scale business owners, and students have opportunities to pursue higher education.

“Vision 2050 seeks to ensure that every Tanzanian can achieve the dream they have set for themselves. A pregnant woman should give birth safely, young people should have better opportunities to fulfil their dreams, an entrepreneur should be able to grow into a major businessperson, and a student should be able to achieve their dream of reaching university so that Tanzania can have highly skilled professionals,” he said.

He commended CRDB Group for investing in healthcare and supporting government efforts to ensure Tanzanians have access to better health services.

Abdulla said the large turnout at the CRDB Marathon was a clear indication of the peace, unity and solidarity prevailing in the country, thanking citizens for continuing to uphold these values.

He said peace and solidarity were important pillars for enabling development activities and achieving national development goals.

For his part, CRDB Bank Chief Executive Officer, Abdulmajid Nsekela, said CRDB Group’s programmes were aligned with the National Development Vision 2050, noting that the bank had already started contributing to the implementation of the Vision through practical initiatives.

Nsekela said implementation of Vision 2050 could not be the responsibility of the government alone, but required collaboration among the private sector, financial institutions, young people, entrepreneurs, athletes, artists and Tanzanians in general.

He said CRDB Group had taken the responsibility seriously and would continue working with the government and other stakeholders to support the implementation of Vision 2050.

“We do not want to be a bank that merely finances events or programmes under the Vision; we want to be part of building Vision 2050,” Nsekela said.

He added that CRDB Group would continue using its resources to invest in communities while expanding platforms that provide young people with opportunities to build their capacity and achieve their aspirations.

According to Nsekela, the bank would continue supporting healthcare, sports, innovation and community development, while working with the government and other stakeholders to build a strong Tanzanian economy supported by capable human capital.

Meanwhile, Zanzibar Minister for Finance and Planning, Dr Juma Malik Akil, stressed the importance of sustaining initiatives that bring citizens together and building a healthy population capable of participating fully in development activities.

He said the participation of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar in the CRDB Marathon demonstrated the importance of such events in promoting health, solidarity and community wellbeing.

Kinondoni District Commissioner Saad Mtambule, delivering remarks on behalf of the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, commended CRDB Bank Foundation for organising the CRDB Marathon and continuing to use sports as a catalyst for bringing people together.

Mtambule said the CRDB Marathon was also creating business opportunities for Dar es Salaam residents by bringing together sports, entertainment and economic activities that benefit local communities.
